Two.
PGDip Graphic Design - 2021
So, what is Two?
Two is a workshop based process designed to connect Falmouth’s Graphic Design MA online students with each other in a physical space. This process enables those individuals living in the same country to meet in a location and carry out a creative workshop.
The Process Benefit
This process is beneficial for many of us on the course and would make for a really interesting process.
Online course to offline where people from our course in the same country meet for a weekend for example, those of us in the UK meet in London to do a workshop. The workshop has toolkits (boxes with a brief in which will change each time) to collaborate through making and play – at the end of the workshop the work is uploaded to an online exhibition space which people will have done all over the world – and these become talking points.
People who don’t have others in the same country can still take part from home and ask friends or family to join in with them as the kit can be shipped and adapted and individuals can still upload their outcome to the online exhibition. Not only does this promote collaboration, but it builds a network. People attending the workshop would be encouraged to bring someone they know from either another discipline or another creative to join in the workshop.
The Branding
The visual language mirrors the idea of making and play as well as symbolising Two (joining). The hand drawn, textured and human feel reflects the essence of the process. Whilst there isn't a logo as such, the process is informally branded through illustrative symbols which are colourful and bright reflecting the experience you would have taking part in it.
The drawn symbols connect two colours. The abstract nature of the shapes implies the element of fun, creativity and unexpected. The imperfections add to the human touch and the opportunity to let go and enjoy being creative in the process rather than the outcome. The informal branding is purposefully loose in order to adapt it and create an array of shapes in a multitude of colours to suit their application.
Two: Connect, Collaborate and have fun together! Please note: This process has the ability to be used in a multitude of ways. The outlined process is only one of many. For example, you could simply order a toolkit and have a go at crafting. You could run a workshop experience such as online vs. offline students at Falmouth University. The opportunities are endless and designed to empower you and your inner creativity.
